Preslite Australia. began its existence being known by the name H. A Chivers and commenced manufacturing automotive electrical equipment in the 1920's.

In 1937 the company commenced manufacture of DC Manufactured windscreen wipers in Australia and in 1948 began manufacturing dashboard cigar lighters.

As a DC Motor manufacturer in the 1960's:The owner, Mr. H (Harry) A Chivers was also the founder of Disco Manufacturing Corporation, later owned and operated by General Motors Holden's Limited.

In 2000 the assets of Preslite Australia were purchased by Autocaps Australia Pty Ltd and Preslite Drive Technologies was born.

Today Preslite Drive Technologies manufacture a range of DC garage door motors as well as DC mobility motors for chairs and scooters and a limited range of DC wiper motors for the automotive and industrial industries
